Service B — the interval that decides how long your engine lives
While a minor service maintains the oil and basic protection, the major service (Service B) is the interval at which Mercedes-Benz prescribes replacing every consumable in the injection, ignition and filtration systems. Skipping or skimping on the major service is the most common cause of expensive failures past 150,000 km. At our workshop in Radiofar (Belgrade) the major service follows the exact factory specification for your engine:
- Engine oil to MB 229.51 / 229.52 / 229.71 specification and an OEM oil filter
- Air filter replacement — a direct influence on consumption and MAF sensor accuracy
- Activated-carbon cabin filter — original quality, not a universal substitute
- Fuel filter on diesel engines (critical for common-rail systems above 2,000 bar)
- Spark plugs on petrol engines — strictly the original NGK/Bosch specification per engine
- DOT 4+ brake fluid (MB 331.0) with boiling point measurement — mandatory every 2 years
- 40-point inspection: brakes, suspension, boots, hoses, leaks, exhaust, tyres, lights, battery
- ASSYST Plus interval reset and a digital service booklet entry via XENTRY
What does ASSYST Plus prescribe for your interval?
Mercedes does not prescribe the same scope for every major service — the system alternates packages (B1, B2, B3…) and adds items by mileage and age. Before any work we read your service plan by VIN through XENTRY and you get the exact list: what the factory requires now, what can wait, and what each item costs. No scope inflation — only what is prescribed gets done.
| Item | Interval | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Oil + oil filter | every service | MB norm verified by VIN |
| Air / cabin filter | ~60,000 km / 2 yrs | OEM MANN, HENGST, MAHLE |
| Fuel filter (diesel) | ~60,000 km | Critical for common-rail |
| Spark plugs (petrol) | 60–100,000 km | Per engine — original specification |
| Brake fluid | every 2 years | DOT 4+ MB 331.0, boiling point measured |

FAQ — major service
At what mileage is a Mercedes major service due?+
Every second year or at 40,000-60,000 km, alternating with the minor service. The exact moment is set by your ASSYST Plus system — we read it via XENTRY by VIN and tell you exactly what your interval prescribes.
What does the major service include compared to the minor?+
Everything from the minor service (MB-spec oil, oil filter) plus: air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter on diesels, spark plugs on petrol engines, brake fluid replacement (mandatory every 2 years) and an extended 40-point inspection.
How much does a Mercedes major service cost?+
The price depends on the model, engine and the scope your ASSYST plan prescribes for this interval. You get an exact quote by phone before arrival — OEM parts, no hidden costs, significantly below dealer pricing. Call +381 60 4848758.
How long does it take?+
Typically 3 to 4 hours with parts prepared in advance. Wait in the client lounge or leave the car and collect it the same day. We are right on the E-75, one minute from Nikola Tesla Airport.
Does it preserve my factory warranty?+
Yes. Factory procedures, OEM-quality parts and a digital service booklet entry via XENTRY — the manufacturer warranty remains valid under the EU Block Exemption Regulation.
